Because I have most of the summer off and because Kansas has decided that the weather should be more schizophrenic than normal (re: snow in May and then nonstop thunderstorms which means no real appropriate pool time), I've decided to go through the massive amounts of things that get pinned on Pintrest during the course of day after day on the bus and actually try to make the things I pinned. Then my friends and family can reap the benefits of my boredom [Happy Birthday, Ryan Brokke, you are one of these winners ;) ] I'm also reading and catching up on TV and movies but I will save that for another post.
We had girls night last night and all (literally) of the recipes came from Pintrest. What we did before this handy little website that can suck hours of life away, I have no idea. But if Pintrest is wrong, I refuse to be right. Most of the food was a hit - with the exception of this guy:
I may not be able to find my way around a craft store, but I do know how to follow a recipe and I followed this one word for word. I wish I had taken a picture to capture the pathetic creature that came out of the oven, but I did not. Just take my word for it - it was not a pretty dessert. It TASTED good, if you were willing to scoop the mini cobblers directly from the muffin tin with your fork and if you like things that taste like dough that isnt completely done. So maybe pass on this guy if you don't want the saddest little dough cobblers at your party.
Now THIS one was good and EASY:
The only issue I had was finding the won ton wrappers... Because how often do you really cook with them, truthfully? In my grocery store, they were in the produce section. Just a sensible location... Or not. But that's where they were. Seriously, this one is fast and super easy and can be made however you prefer your tacos, really. Add whatever fun things you like. And they are delicious, especially with red wine ;)
Using crescent rolls for the crust was a good idea, in theory, but it got a little mushy and took longer than I felt it should have. But it tastes great and, again, you can add whatever fun things you want to it. Because of the mushy crust, it's not a great finger food (seriously, don't try unless you want to wear it). But for ease and taste, it's great.
Finally, the Ryan Brokke Birthday Dessert, which I have lost the pin for.. Or else I'm lazy and don't want to scroll through endless pins. But it's the easiest, most delicious, no bake cherry cheesecake dip ever. This is a really stressful recipe, so get ready:
One box of no bake cheesecake mix, prepared with milk.
One tub of cool whip
Mix them together for 3 minutes on medium.
Put in a bowl and into the fridge for 30 minutes
Pour cherry pie filling over the top
Eat with graham crackers
SO GOOD!! And I don't even really like cheesecake.
