The beginning of the final week of rehearsals

"If, then, I were asked for the most important advice I could give, I should simply say: in the name of God, stop a moment, cease your work, look around you." - Leo Tolstoy

We have been so spoiled here for the last few weeks. August in NYC is typically a swampy, disgusting mess, where no amount of window unit a/c can help the situation. This month has been full of nights with the windows open, stolen opportunities to sit outside and days where only one shower is necessary. Luxury, I tell you. Luxury. But I don't want to speak to loud, because I don't want to jinx it for the last few days that we are here.

Last week was a pretty fantastic New York week. I hate myself for even typing those words, if I'm being completely honest. It's just that an actual good week - day after day after day of goodness - in New York City - is pretty rare. New York will take you, give you something nice, and then, in the very next instant, completely backhand you in the worst way. And you just have to deal with it, because that's what she has to offer. Ok, so the trains uptown were still pretty deplorable... but I got to catch up with a lot of people that I haven't seen in awhile, saw two incredible shows on their closing weekends and got to come home every night to a DOG, which is pretty much my New York City dream come true. Rosie is the greatest and I wish Maddie Pugalicious was here to be her bestest friend. I'm completely spoiled in my currently living situation - my roommate is just one of the very best. She did get me hooked on Orange is the New Black though, but what can you do.

I spent my last Sunday in the city (for awhile) in my favorite way - having brunch and then having an adventure. Thanks to Ms. Jane Davis and Minnie the pup, I finally walked through Fort Tyron Park, which is actually shameful, since the entrance to that incredible place is about 2 blocks from my apartment. I swear, once you enter the park, you A: have no idea where anything is, and B: feel like you have completely left the city. I'm certain that I could have stayed lost in there for hours and been perfectly content. I had Mister Softee for the first time as well, and I think its good that I have waited for years to try it because WHAT?! Rainbow Cone. That's all I have to say about that. We also found a place in the park where you can play ping pong - so fun and I'm still so awful. And I found another brunch place for future reference.

I couldn't fight my inner workaholic tonight, but thanks to a little Spotify playlist full of road trip memories and the incredible voice of this kid named Liam, things weren't all so bad. Oh yeah, and this little view wasn't too shabby either. Completely spoiled to have an office with a window this year.

I loved it, I care not what others say. I've never seen the movies, but I thought the leads were fantastic and charming, and that Tony Award winning set was absolutely ridiculous. I have also been on the receiving end of many bus seat chats about color and why it is used in movies, and the designers made some really interesting choices in this that I actually noticed. So I was pretty proud.

Fort Tryon Park. So glad to have finally experienced this place!
