Flashback: December on tour

Well, I continue to be awful that this game. I'm currently sitting at home on the first night of our last layoff. 95% of the company went on vacation, and while I'm a tad jealous to not be sitting on a beach, I'm not at all disappointed to have this little face hanging out with me.

The period of time between Thanksgiving layoff and Christmas layoff went by in a flash. We started out being on the bus a lot - through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana. We played a couple of arenas, which are always a challenge, and played a couple of the smallest theaters we'll see all tour. But there is something about those small spaces -- even though they are a challenge to us, the audiences are always so receptive and appreciative. And, at the end of the day, I can't be upset about being a part of bringing theatre to places that don't have a lot of opportunity to see major touring productions.

We left Bozeman, MT (and one of the cutest airports I've ever seen) to head to Wichita, KS for the weekend. I got to spend lots of time with some of my bestest girlfriends (complete with a noise complaint -- sorry Kev, Graham and Greg!) and with my dad and stepmom.  I was also so grateful to be back in the theatre where I first discovered my love of Broadway.  The Wichita Eagle was kind enough to feature me in a story promoting the show: http://www.kansas.com/2011/12/04/2127134/topeka-native-travels-with-young.html.  Thank you, Wichita Eagle!

The first night home in Kansas, I came back to Topeka to see that little star, Jeff Kready, perform with the symphony. This was the sunset as I headed back to tour.

The Hyatt Regency in Wichita doesn't know me at ALL! (lies)

From Wichita, we headed to TWO DAYS OFF in Seattle. Be still my heart. Seattle continues to be one of my very favorite places to visit on the planet.

Immediately upon arrival - a trip to the Pike Place Market for lunch

The "original Starbucks" Its not. Don't be fooled.

Christmas at the Market

And very quickly, $300 was spent on dinner. Well worth it.

Christmas in Seattle before a trip to see New Year's Eve

The trip wouldn't have been complete without a stop at The Crumpet Shoppe. Thank you, Declan Bennett, for finding this place on the first trip!!!

From Seattle, we headed over the mountains to two days in Yakima. Apparently, we were amongst great vineyards and such. It was too cold for me to think about anything else. HOWEVER, I had the best massage of my LIFE at Ummelina Spa. If you are ever in Yakima or Seattle, seriously, you must go.  http://www.ummelina.com

Last stop in December - Spokane WA. I loved it so much more than I did last time! It was freezing and cloudy the entire time, but it was Christmas, so it almost felt right. We closed up the 2011 portion of our tour with six shows in a beautiful town.
